Nursery/ Meithrin

Croeso i'r Meithrin!

Nursery class teacher is Miss Jewell and teaching assistant is Miss Stracy!

Our Summer topic this year is 'Summer Sensations'. We will be learning about sea animals and how to keep our oceans safe, using our imagination to go on picnics and holidays to the seaside, and exploring Pirates and how they live. We will post lots of pictures of us and our learning on Twitter and our Class Page, so keep an eye out!

Our class rules in nursery are to remember kind hands and feet, sharing is caring, walking feet, listen to our teachers, always help to tidy up and learning to wash our hands; building our independence. If we follow these rules, our DOJO monsters earn lots of stars and the 2 with the most stars at the end of the week are DOJO king/queen!

Currently we are only providing milk for snack time and we are unable to provide snack so please remember your healthy snacks and don't forget to cut up those grapes!

Home Learning

Below are general goals to work towards this term, especially for those of Nursery who will be heading up to Reception in September. The children would love to show you the progress of their learning by doing jobs at home with you. As well as this, we will be sending book bags to go home on a Friday and need to be returned to school on Mondays!

Practise using your fingers to build up strength!

You could do some cutting with scissors, have fun with playdough or even help your family to hang up the washing by clipping the pegs!

Practise counting forwards and backwards up to 10 by singing number songs and playing counting games. CHALLENGE: Can you count on from a number other than 1 to 10?

Practise pencil control with the correct grip

(2 fingers and a thumb) by drawing pictures of the seaside, sea creatures and anything you may like.

Bring them in to show us!

Read and write numbers up to 10. A song we love in Nursery for writing numbers is : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzKqCmjVXLI

You could also use TopMarks website for Games.

Develop your physical skills: hopping, jumping, running and stopping, throwing and catching, changing direction and riding a bike.

Practise writing your name in lots of fun and different ways. You could use water, mud, sand, paint and crayons!

Can you recognise the letters in your name in the environment around you?
